About Andrea J. Nichols

Andrea received her Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2011. Andrea J. Nichols is Professor of Sociology at Forest Park College and Lecturer for the Women Gender and Sexuality Studies Department and Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Andrea teaches the course Sex Trafficking to both undergraduate and graduate students. Andrea is also the Anti-Trafficking Initiative Coordinator for the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Andrea is author of the book Sex Trafficking in the United States: Theory, Research, Policy, and Practice, as well as Feminist Advocacy, and is co-author of the books Sex Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation: Prevention, Advocacy and Trauma Informed Care; Social Work Practice with Survivors of Sex Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation; Human Trafficking in the Midwest: A Case Study of St. Louis and the Bi-State Area and Broadening the Scope of Human Trafficking. Andrea has also published multiple articles in peer reviewed academic journals. Nichols won the Early Scholar Award from the Midwest Sociological Society in 2018, and New Scholar Award from the American Society of Criminology’s Division on Women and Crime in 2015. She is a Carnegie Award winning Professor, and Feminist Criminology’s 2013 Best Article of the Year Award winner.
